Our HydroView software combines the
utility of the Global Positioning System (GPS) and an on-board echo
sounder with Windows-based graphics in a real-time hydrographic surveying
environment. HydroView utilizes a portable computer which interfaces
directly to any NMEA-compliant differentially corrected GPS receiver and
on-board digital echo sounder, providing a real-time capability for
collection of hydrographic survey data. This system was designed and
implemented in support of dredging operations, annual surveys, Before
Construction (BC) surveys, or As-Built (AB) surveys.
Our Hydrographic Surveyor program
provides planning capabilities for setting up a survey. User friendly
interactive controls are provided for defining and naming alignments, and
for selecting alignments when performing the survey. Survey monitoring is
provided using three real-time graphic views, a planar or helmsman's
display, an alignment view, and an instrument strip chart view. Upon
completion or the survey, or at any time during the survey, editing tools
are provided for ensuring the highest quality of collected data. Because
the system brings survey data directly into a graphical environment,
time-consuming steps associated with office post-processing of data
collected in the field are skipped.
Data is stored in the graphic file
as color-coded text elements or can be exported to an XYZ ASCII file. This
data can then be read by our River Analyst software for triangulation,
contouring, end area calculations, cross-sections, volumes, quantities,
etc.
